Tinswalo Lapalala- By Liz Cox – Editor Wildside Magazine
A visit to Lapalala is not an average African safari experience. In fact, it’s less about safari and more about the experience.
While the reserve boasts the African Super Seven – the Big 5 plus the added enjoyment of cheetah and wild dog, the owners of Tintswalo at Lapalala have created unique “experiences”. These experiences take guests beyond the normal game drive and game viewing activities one is familiar with as part of a visit to a game reserve.
Guests are encouraged to go on guided walks instead of drives. Enjoy the romance of a bush picnic alongside the crystal clear waters of the Palala river, taking a moment to enjoy an invigorating dip in its crisp waters. Take a step back in time and marvel at some of the country’s oldest rock art or hike up the mountain to experience for yourself the magic and mystery surrounding the Melora Archaeological site dating back to the Iron Age.
Take a moment to reconnect with loved ones and family over a sumptuous breakfast in an exquisite remote location of the reserve or taking the time to watch another perfect African sunset from the top of Rapula Rock as you enjoy sundowners before sitting down to a delectable boma dinner.
Accommodation
All the lodge buildings are raised above the ground so as to protect the natural bushveld underneath, with rooms being connected to the main lodge areas by elevated wooden walkways.
The luxuriously appointed tented suites offer guests views of the surrounding breath-taking and untamed wilderness and have been constructed to ensure there complete privacy and minimal impact on the environment.
Tinstswalo at Lapalala is one of only a few luxury safari lodges that welcomes children.
The tented suites boast their own private plunge pool, a wood burning fireplace for those chilly Waterberg winter evenings and the en-suite bathrooms are quite special. Indoor and outdoor rain showers as well as a romantic outdoor bath complete the picture.
There are two family tented suites which have an adjacent bedroom with two single beds, cupboard space, and a private desk.
