Towering over the valley below at an impressive 3004m Cathedral Peak forms a spectacular backdrop for Cathedral Peak Hotel. Cathedral Peak Hotel welcomed the first guests through her doors since 1939, when the van der Riet family started it. Situated in the Northern Drakensberg, Cathedral Peak Hotel is located a mere 250km from Johannesburg and for Durbanites, a 400km trip up the N3 rewards with spectacular mountain scenery, breathtaking walks and hikes to suit any level of fitness and skill, serene crystal clear mountain pools and an abundance of outdoor and indoor activities.
The hotel offers guest a variety of room categories. We stayed on one of the “Standard Thatched “ rooms. Our room had the most beautiful views of the hotel’s gardens and the nine-hole golf course across the valley. Comfortably furnished with a seating area that includes a sleeper couch, ideal for families with small children, a TV with a limited bouquet of DSTV channels, mini-bar fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, a kingsized bed, cupboards and a safe to store your valuables. The en-suite bathroom had double sinks with a shower overhead in the bath.
